Both Little Simz and Kehlani bring a lot to the music “Table”. The duo sampled SWVs “Use Your Heart” and created a hit! The video is set in North London streets and showcases British culture, staring Kehlani, Little Simz and their friends. It shows both artists funny, quirky sides and presents both Kehlani and Little Simz lyrically and visually. The rest of the footage was shot at Kehlanis TSNMI-XMAS concert where the duo first performed the song. The visual is simple yet so rich with why we love both artists. Both Kehlani and Little Simz wear the clothing brand “kids of immigrants” ,which i am excited to see grow and develop in 2017. The footage, directed by David Camarena seems to have a realistic feel and shows us fans behind the scenes of Kehlani and Little Simz in London. Both artists are at the top of their game… Kehlani in the song sings with such flow that you could place her on a similar level to some rappers; whilst Little Simz remains one of the best female rappers in London. There are no words for the creativity and the “real” that this song and visual presents. Along with the vibe that keeps me and others putting this song on repeat. I like many would love to know where the concept for the song came from, how the collaboration came about and whether there will be future collaborations in 2017. We all can’t wait to see what more they both have to bring to the “Table” “SSS” in 2017.
I will continue to bring you all updates on Kehlani and Little Simz on LUCAS BRAD and wish nothing but success and happiness for both in 2017. x
Its been announced today that Kehlani‘s hit song “Distraction” has debuted at number 85 on The Hot 100. We all congratulate the star on her third song to reach the charts in 2016 and we look on to the greatness she has to come.
Kehlani shows us her raw and vulnerable side in “Advice” the newest single from her album ‘SWEETSEXYSAVAGE‘. She gives us yet another dimension to her crzy life and reminds us all that we should ‘take our own advice’ from time to time. In the song we are given a richer instrumental and vocals. You can definitely hear her progression from cloud 19 into SSS vocally and conceptually. She reminds us that it’s all a journey and growth; that eventually it will all work out. We are so happy she’s happy and being successful! Be sure to pre-order her album, the song “Advice” along with “Distraction” and “Crzy” are available on all music outlets. We will keep you updated on all things Kehlani on the release of SSS nextJanuary.
Kehlani yesterday released the artwork to her up and coming album ‘SWEETSEXYSAVAGE.’ The highly anticipated album is set to be released in January next year and has everyone on the edge of their seats unaware of what to expect. Kehlani recently performed in London for TSNMI xmas where she showcased all her hits sporting the brand kids of immigrants. Along with a range of familiar faces she had up and around the stage including Lil Simz. Yesterday a select few were lucky enough to have been invited to her listening party in London; I can only imagine the buzz and vibe in the room. I along with the rest of the TSNMI MOB await the debut album set to be listened to on repeat.
The “You Should Be Here” star strikes again with her timeless hit “CRZY” followed by “Distraction” a week later – both showcasing Kehlani’s ability to experiment lyrically and conceptually. An aspect in which I feel is missing from many artists in the charts. The song “CRZY” seems to be the artists release of emotion from her experiences from the past couple of years. It reminds us that we can all “go CRZY” at some points in our lives yet informs us that we can overcome any obstacles, much like Kehlani has repeatedly done throughout her career. This is definitely a song for the club, to be blared out of cars and to be kept on repeat. When listening to “Distraction” you cant help but notice a parallel to the Aaliyah hit “One in a million” through Kehlani’s arrangement of her melody. Whilst the artist draws on inspiration from artists before her, she is still very much her own artist through her style and attitude within her lyrics. Lyrically you could infer “distraction” is about a friends with benefits type of relationship with no strings attached. She dives into the idea of the struggles of dealing with a relationship whilst maintaining a busy and always on the move lifestyle. Both songs give us just another dimension into the artists collection of lyrical styles allowing fans to relate to similar experiences and issues. Both songs are a perfect way of transitioning from the stars mixtape into a first album and remains to keep us gripped to see what comes next. Whilst the star may still be considered an underground artist, she continues to elevate her platform and inflict a positive influence onto her fans. For a star who had come from American Idol to struggling in her teen years into a blossoming spiritual flower, I applaud her resilience, her strength and her movement (TSNMI). I along with the rest of fans will be smoking another blunt waiting for her first album to drop SSS.
